Part I: Kringverjaardag

With a nod to the infamous Dutch “kringverjaardag”, this series visualizes Dutch celebratory practices, the static nature of Dutch “gezelligheid” and, of course, the centrality of chairs in festive traditions for both young and old.

This embroidery is submitted to be part of Ruben Montini’s embroidery project Questo Anonimato É Sovversivo (in collaboration with e.g. Museum Arnhem), a project in which Montini invites members of every EU member state to collaborate on a 30m embroidered tablecloth.
